Nordik Folk Viking Festival

"10th" Anniversary Celebration
From September to October, lodge members were busy planning the upcoming Viking Festival/Nordik Folk "10th" Anniversary Celebration. On October 30th, members and guests gathered at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Munster Indiana. Many dressed in Viking attire and all dined on a whole roast pig, roast lamb, roast turkey and a smorgasbord provided by lodge members. Mike Pearson and Herb Smith displayed their Viking weapon collection and our Chairman and MC for the event, Tim Ogrentz, greeted guests.

GLOGG PARTY!!!!On November 5th we gathered at the home of members Lynda and Herb Smith who are gracious enough to open their doors every every year for us to come and make Glogg. Additionally, they donate the supplies. By the end of the evening, the glogg is bottled and labeled so that it can be sold at our Lucia Fest. This year Annelise Nelson and Seve Westlund were chosen to grace the labels.

At our Lodge Business Meeting on November 21st we initiated 4 new members: Karin Schaffer, Carolyn Kuzminski, Shana Chelich and Sara Kennedy. We welcome them!!

On December 10th members and Nordikids Children's Club attended the Christmas Around the World Exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry. Nordikids Perfomed with this year's Lucia Queen, Jaylyn Sinwelski.
Nordikids & Nordik Folk LUCIA FEST 2017
On December 11th we celebrated Lucia Fest on a beautiful snowy day at the Wicker Park Social Center in Highland, Indiana.
Chicago City-Wide Lucia
On December 13, several Nordikid families when downtown to participate in Chicago's citywide Lucia which began at the Cultural Center and ended in the Andersonville Neighborhood at the Swedish American Museum and Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Katie Westlund (last year's Chicago Lucia Queen) and Sofia Nelson participated.
