Nordik Folk: Farewell to 2016

So sorry for the delay in reporting the Nordik Folk Year End Activities!  Sometimes, it is hard to keep up.  What an end to 2016 we had!  I'll take you through it in words and photos...

August 2016

After a long summer off, Nordik Folk met once again on August 22 at Ridge United Methodist Church for our Annual Kraftskiva Dinner.  The Crayfish were provided and cooked by member Janice Tomky.  I provided them last year, so I know exactly what her kitchen smelled like that afternoon...into the following days.  They are yummy little guys, but they do tend to leave quite an after-smell.  Many thanks to Janice to volunteering.

We also were able to initiate 3 new members with the help of our District Deputy, Susan Nilsson.  Welcome to new members: Brendon Tomky (son of members Brian and Tonia Tomky and Grandson of member Janice Tomky) and , Noel & Corey Schecter (sister and brother-in-law of Linnea Ogrentz).

Nordik Folk Viking Festival
"10th" Anniversary Celebration

From September to October, lodge members were busy planning the upcoming Viking Festival/Nordik Folk "10th" Anniversary Celebration.  On October 30th, members and guests gathered  at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Munster Indiana. Many dressed in Viking attire and all dined on a whole roast pig, roast lamb, roast turkey and a smorgasbord provided by lodge members.  Mike Pearson and Herb Smith displayed their Viking weapon collection and our Chairman and MC for the event, Tim Ogrentz, greeted guests.

GLOGG PARTY!!!!On November 5th we gathered at the home of members Lynda and Herb Smith who are gracious enough to open their doors every every year for us to come and make Glogg.  Additionally, they donate the supplies.  By the end of the evening, the glogg is bottled and labeled so that it can be sold at our Lucia Fest.   This year Annelise Nelson and Seve Westlund were chosen to grace the labels.
